Oil, gold, copper, grains pricing and strategic reserves monitoring
This page follows nine futures contracts - WTI and Brent crude, natural gas, gold, silver, copper, wheat, corn and soybeans - using a year of daily prices refreshed every 30 minutes. For each one it shows the latest price and its 1-month, 3-month and 1-year change. Point-based rules turn those moves into a commodities stress score plus two 0-100 indexes for energy and food security, and the stress score feeds the Commodities region on the main dashboard.
How to read it. Oil carries the most weight: the severity label escalates once WTI holds above $90, and the strongest oil signals fire at fixed levels such as $100 and $120. Gold works as a flight-to-safety gauge - a sharp run-up while equities fall says more than gold on its own. Treat the energy and food indexes as relative pressure, not as forecasts of shortages.
Limitations. Signals use fixed price levels, so they need manual updates as long-run price ranges shift - gold especially. Strategic-reserve figures are hand-maintained estimates (marked EST) rather than a live feed, and they weigh on the stress score and cap the energy-security index. The supply-disruption panel is not connected to a data source yet.
